my little artist

Lincoln painted a canvas at the art museum.  I LOVE it!  It only took a couple minutes for him to dab the paintbrush across the surface, and I whisked it away, because I mean... look at that!  I then left him to his own artistic judgement with a couple pieces of paper, so he could have all the fun he wanted.  Every time he made a stroke with the paintbrush, he rubbed the paint onto the paper with his fingers.  He also tried to eat the paintbrush.  Such a toddler!

We were given a little easel to display Lincoln's masterpiece.

Here's a size reference to show you just how little.  Cute, yes?

Performing "Down"

Here is a clip of my brother playing the drums at his school's talent show.  It was fun to watch him, especially since he's so awesome!  Great job, Ev!

Watching it now, I realize it ends too abruptly-- I should have filmed the whole thing.  Oh well, I'm sure I'll be seeing this guy on stage again soon.  :-)

SUNSHINE!

Oh my goodness, I am so in love with this day!  In the morning I opened all the windows and folded laundry while Linc played on the balcony.  (That sounds neglectful, but if you don't already know, my bed is only a few feet from the balcony door.)  Then we played and cleaned.  During his nap, I got ready for the day and packed us a bag of snacks, because I wanted to GO somewhere.

I'm not sure why I've never been before, but today was my first Gardner Village experience.  Lincoln has been very good about sitting in the stroller lately.  Yesterday we walked for three hours, and he was awake and happy the whole time!  So today he let me wander through the small shops and nearly have a heart attack over all the lovely furniture and linens.  I sampled some fudge and talked with one of the store owners.  I think she was Australian; her accent was enchanting.

Then I walked Lincoln into the petting zoo.  I wish I had been able to take pictures, but I was too busy steering him away from all the poo and shooing the goats away from my dress.  One horned fellow in particular kept biting it!  But I loved the baby pigs and goats!  They were so soft and gentle.  I'll be taking Lincoln there again, for sure.

And now I am going to put my son to bed while my man goes to the gym.  Tonight I'm going to get a bath and watch tv on my laptop-- one of my favorite luxuries!

Just thought I'd share my satisfaction with this day.  And I hope yours was just as beautiful!

Bank Dance

I'm glad Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt plan on doing more movies together.  They're fun to watch!  I've been grumpy lately, and this music video is the perfect distraction.

Loves of the day

Happiness may be a choice, but most of the time it's an easy one with:

Mocha in the morning
thoughtful friends who bring over banana bread just because they know you like it
thoughtful mommies who do the same just because they know Lincoln likes it
birds building a nest right outside the living room window
Jack and Lily shoes
The inside of a kiwi, prettiest fruit there ever was
Lincoln wheeling around his plastic golf bag like a vacuum
lunges down the hallway; any hallway
my husband in a suit and tie
laughter from the nursery while the boys are reading
planning day trips for the summer
anticipation of filling my humming bird feeder
2 hour long walks through the avenues and downtown, then back home again
white rum
listening to Linc mumbling in his crib in the morning
friendly cats who jump from their porch stoops just to brush legs with passersby
family just a short drive away
Linc spooning his own oatmeal
pullup/dip machines
hand-me-down clothes, better than new
parents with their endless supply of love and generosity
finding a gray hair and being totally cool with it
free family-friendly activities (Linc pictured below at UMFA)
